An Object of Fear

Yesterday I went for a up of coffee at Old Town.No I'm not that rich I can simply go to the kopitiam as a please.......my wifi was also down and I really needed my Facebook fix.

As I was enjoying my cuppa, a young couple with their kid occupied the table beside mine.Their kid was about 3 years old.He was loud, obnoxious and stubborn.In other words he had the makings of a Malaysian politician.While dad was busy on his laptop, mom was trying her best to keep the boy still.The kid on the other hand was hell bent having his way.

After trying just about everything, including bribery, the lady looked just about ready to give up.The other patrons of the kopitiam looked really annoyed.Especially the couple behind them.They didn't even try to mask how they felt.Then she tried to threaten the kid.This was what happenned.

Lady: Boy keep quiet other people are looking!

Kid: Ladidadida

Lady: Boy if you don't keep quite that scary Indian man over there will come and take you away.

Kid: *total silence*

Me: WTF! I'm being used to threaten people!?

The best part is she was actually pointing at me when she said that.The kid was very quiet after that.I mean if you're going to use someone as a threat please do it out of earshot.That was a real blow to my already fragile hanging-by-a-string self-esteem.In one day I had fallen under the same category as the bogeyman, things that go bump in the dark and Freddy Krueger.My coffee tasted oddly like crap.

Does she realise the adverse effect of her actions.The kid is probably going to grow up into a Indian fearing paranoid bugger.Ok I was just blowing things out of proportion there.But what are the chances. XD

I paid for my coffee (which I didn't finish) and left.As I was leaving I noticed the kid was still staring at me....with fear, confusion and who knows what.Great.....just great.
