1) Study hard
2) Get a good career
3) Migrate to another country
2) Get a good career
3) Migrate to another country
That's right my parents have always told me to leave this country. It's with an honest intention that they tell me to leave. They want me to have a better future in a "better" country as do many other parents.
According to them life in Malaysia would become difficult. In reference to the current situation in this country they say that further along the road more tensions will arise. The main fear of parents is that their children will have a lack of opportunity in this country. In a multiethnic country like Malaysia racial tensions may pose a problem to minority races. There are many other things that worry parents should their children stay and pursue their career locally.(I'm not going to list them though)
I can go as far as to say that a total of 70% of my friends have the intention to migrate to another country. If you were to ask them a lot of them would say that the idea was suggested by their parents. The rest of course intend to earn their wealth where the grass is greener.
To me migrating is not the solution. It is just simply an act of running away from the problem.Cowardice perhaps??What about those who are not able to run away from this country? What about those who do not want to leave their families behind?Who is going to help them?
If all professionals were to just simply say "I'll go to a better place" and migrate to another country who would be left to help the nation?Everyone knows that brain drain is a major problem in this country and the government tries to solve it with incentives. It's not always about money.First of all Malaysians should change their mindset. If they want to live in a better place they should make a better place.Parents should also NOT bug their kids to leave the country.(My dad thinks I'm some kind of idiot for not wanting to leave the country).
I'll admit I would leave this country too one day (I'm no hypocrite ok) but not after I've paid my debt to my country and society.I plan to do something for this country. It's not going to be something over the top or amazing, just a small contribution.Speaking of debts, there are students who receive loans to study overseas don't bother to return and pay it back.( Clicky here).I don't mean to judge but isn't that ungrateful?
Yes I know the political scene is a fiasco but that doesn't mean you have to run across the Tebrau Strait to our chilli crab loving neighbours.(It was the kindest name I could think of) With a lot of intellectuals leaving the country what would you expect if the only ones left to lead were douche bags.I look forward to the day when people like Nicholas Wong would take charge in the political scene.(*wink**wink*)A person who actually leads without his head up his ass.I wish all Malaysians would stand up for their rights and make a change.A change for the better of course.

Damn I 100% agree with you on everything except the taking charge of the political scene part lol. I've always said that people who just say the country's screwed, then run away, aren't helping the problem. So finally someone agrees with me.
ReplyDeleteAnd heck no, no direct politics for me. Too dirty. I'd rather stand by the sidelines and yell at the politicians and tell 'em what to do. I mean when have I ever displayed an interest in leadership positions? What you want is Horng Qing lol.
i'm tempted to put a bible verse here.. but i think i'll skip that..haha anyway, nice to hear that u r gonna b hanging around for "awhile".. do something good here first:) cheers!
ReplyDeleteNick:You have the potential though not the interest.
ReplyDeleteTim:Haha....always with the spiritual aspect.Cheers to us "true" Malaysians.
Nick, you think I am that great and capable until one day I will be able to make a CHANGE to Malaysia?? Thanks man, you really think I am so capable.. I am more than happy to save this country, but with my little strength, isn't going to progress far. Thats why we need people like Justin Jarret and Nick Wong.. Haha
